How to Build Muscle

There are many programs that teach you ways to build muscles, but many of them focus only on lifting weights. As the following will show, it takes more than that to develop muscles.

Eat Healthy Breakfasts

Your breakfast should have lots of protein. Egg is a good source of protein. Whole grain breads must also be eaten. They are excellent sources of carbohydrates. Protein will boost your energy and help develop your muscles. Eating breakfast also gives you the energy required for working out later.

Other Food Recommendations

Protein bars and protein drinks may be included in your diet. These two have amino acids instrumental in promoting muscle development. You must also eat lots of fruits, vegetables and grains.

Lift Barbells and Dumbbells

You can use dumbbells, barbells or both. The best way to build muscles is to start with the weight you are comfortable with. Here are some methods you can try.

Stand up straight and hold the dumbbells in both hands. Lift them up simultaneously. In the beginning, do three sets with 10 lifts per set. Relax for a few minutes. Next, sit down and hold one dumbbell. Rest your elbow on your knee. Lift the dumbbell. Perform 10 lifts of two or three sets. Repeat this with the other arm.

You can also lift the barbells. You should spend at least 15 minutes working on your muscles. In the beginning you can perform muscle workouts every other day. When your body gets accustomed to it, you can work out five times a week.

Squats, Push Ups and Other Workouts

Aside from muscle workouts, you should perform squats, abdominal crunches, pull ups and push ups. These exercises will boost your endurance, letting you work out longer. Start with ten repetitions and one set for each of these exercises. Increase it as time goes by.

Tips and Warnings

There are also exercise equipments that can develop your muscles. But these dumbbells and barbells will do the same for your muscles. If you are just starting out, do not hurry the process. Give your body time to get used to working out.

Don’t lift weights everyday when you are starting out. You may get injured. If you have a medical condition, consult your doctor before embarking on a workout program.

These are some of the simple but effective ways to build muscles. You will not get the muscles overnight, but if you persevere, it will bear fruit. For good muscle development, consistency is the key.
