How to Build a RC Car

Before you learn how to build an RC car, be aware that some technical skills are needed. It will also take time, but it will be worth it.

Required Tools and Materials

Batteries
Wide rubber bands
Bar of soap
Cyanoacrylate glue
Number 11 hobby knife blades
Flush cutters
Pliers
Phillips screwdriver
Hex wrench
RC car kit

Step 1

Open the RC car kit package and read the instructions.

Step 2

Use the hobby knife to cut away any plastic components on the molds. Throw away the plastic.

Step 3

Put the screws and parts aside. Get the wheels and put them together. You can stick the plastic wheels and the tires together with the cynoacrylate glue.

Use the rubber band to wrap the tires. Apply the rubber band after you have put the glue in. Let the glue dry as per the product directions. When it has dried, you can continue to build an RC car.

Step 4

Get the screws that came with the kit. Use them to put the shock towers together. When the shock towers are built, join the towers on the chassis. The kit will include the screws needed for this part.

Step 5

When the wheels are dry, attach them to the chassis axles. Use the screws that came with the kit.

Step 6

The next step is to put the servo motors on the wheels. The role of the servo motors is to control the tire movements and the rotation.

Step 7

Once the servo motors are screwed to the tires, connect them on the battery pack. Note: do not forget to coil the wires. Not doing so may damage the wire.

Step 8

Charge the batteries. Turn on the radio after you attach the battery pack.

Step 9

Put the batteries in the remote control. Use it to test the wheel movements. Check the rotation too. If everything is well, you can join the chassis and the body together.

Tips and Warnings

Be careful when cutting the plastic parts; you could end up cutting an important component of the car. Assemble the car in a clear and clean setting. This is crucial because you cannot afford to lose any of the screws.

Most of these screws are custom sized, so you won’t be able to find a replacement for it easily. Use the soap to lubricate the screws. Sometimes the screws are difficult to put in place.

This is a general guide on how to build an RC car. There are many, many different models out there. Make sure to read the instructions.
