Ping pong is a game that can be enjoyed by the whole family. If you find the cost of the tables prohibitive, why not try to build a ping pong table?
Required Tools and Materials
Net, paddles and ball
Measuring tape
Paint tin and roller
White paint for border
Cool colored paint (2)
Two sawhorses
4 x 8 plywood (sanded)
Place the sawhorses six feet distant. Put the plywood on top of it.
Step 2
Get a tape measure and pencil and make a line along in the middle of the table. Get some blue painter’s tape. Put the tape by the middle line on the sides. Ensure the tape edge is matched with the line of the pencil. You should end up with two halves of equal size. When the tape is set, paint the side.
Step 3
When the first painted side has dried, take out the blue tape carefully. A line will be set in the middle of the plywood. Get another blue tape and put it on the other side. Be certain you place the tape by the painted line; this will blend in the colors. Start painting once the tape is set.
Step 4
To build a ping pong table, remove the blue tape of the middle of the table. Do this when the second side has dried. Be certain the table edges are painted too.
Step 5
It’s time to paint the white edges. Border the table with blue painter’s tape. Border it at around ¾ of an inch edge. Be certain the corners are square. Start painting after the corners are set. Do not paint it outside of the tape. Remove the border tape when the paint is dry.
Step 6
Secure the net along the sides of the table.
Tips and Warnings
You can decorate the table in different ways. If you want polka dots, begin by taping a section on the table. Put the tape roll on the section. Use the pencil to draw a circle outside the roll. Cut the circle out.
The inside cut should be peeled. Paint the circles any color you like. Let the paint dry and peel the tape back. Of course you can also paint in other colors and patterns.
If you are going to build a ping pong table, you should get the 4 x 8 wood pieces sanded and cut to size in the store. But if you will do the cutting, make sure to wear eye goggles to protect your eyes.
