Required Tools and Materials

Olive drab flat exterior paint
1 box of ½ inch staples
Staple gun
1 48 x 96 inch chicken wire section
Screwdriver
4 3 inch coated screws
Drill
1/8 inch drill bit
1 2-by-12-by-48-inch board
1 box of 2-inch coated screws
2 4-by-4-by-18-inch wood posts
Screw gun
6 hinges with screws
Table saw
1 1/2 x 8 x 96 inch plywood panel

Step 1

Cut the 1/2 x 48 x 96 inch plywood panel in four equal parts. Saw each part so it measures ½ x 48 x 24 inches.

Step 2

Put the plywood pieces on the work surface. Put a hinge on every joint a foot from the top and bottom edges. Screw in the hinges. This is the blind structure.

Step 3

Put a 4 x 4 18 in wood post on the blind structure’s ends. It should be flushed to the bottom and side edges. Screw the posts on to the plywood. These are your seat supports.

Step 4

Stand up the blind structure. Position the sides to make a backless pentagon shape. Set the 2 x 12 x 48 inch board on the seat supports. Drill a couple of holes (1/8 inch) at the board’s ends. After the blind is set in place, the seat can be screwed into position. You can configure the blind via the 3 inch screws.

Step 5

Set the chicken wire panel over the blind. Make sure half sticks on the blind structure edge. The next step to build a duck blind is to staple the wire to the wood.

Step 6

The final step is to paint the structure. The ideal color is olive. Use the paintbrush to apply colors in an even manner. Let the paint dry as per the directions on the product guide. When the paint is dry, you can start using the blind.

Tips and Warnings

Carry some camouflage netting when you go. The olive color provides good shading, but the camouflage helps when the natural materials are scarce. The netting and olive color will help hide the blind structure.

Before you build a duck blind, make sure you wear some goggles. This will keep wood debris from entering your eyes. Follow the safety guide when using the table saw. You should also be careful when using the drill.
