If you love to eat pizza, you might want to think about making a brick oven. If you know how to build a brick oven, you can cook pizza just the way you want it.
Required Tools and Materials
Loam
Cement
Polyurethane dome
Particle board
Heat proof stone
Bricks
Shovel
Decide where you want to place the oven. If the oven is outdoors, make sure that it is set in an open area. The part that is open should face the wind.
Step 2
Use the shovel to dig a base. Make the hole 20 inches deep minimum. In this example, the dimensions are 65 x 55 inches. Level the hole after you dig it up.
Step 3
The next step to build a brick oven is to set the foundation up. Make the side lines by laying the bricks on the sides. To solidify it, pour some cement.
Step 4
You can make the pedestal in different ways. If you want a storage area, get 3 particle board pieces. Arrange them as the right, left and back walls. Stack the bricks around the walls. You can also create an arch on the front. This is necessary to support the structure. A simpler method is to just make the walls using the bricks.
Step 5
Put loam in the pedestal and the top. If you want to make a wood storage portion, line it with foam. This will constitute the baking surface.
Step 6
Install the surface. You can use quarry tile or granite. Whichever stone you use, make sure the stones are heat resistant.
Step 7
Now you just have to put the oven together. Shape the oven as a dome so the heat can come out of it. You can use a polyurethane dome for this task. Make sure the opening is big enough to put in various items in the oven. Put some thick loam in the inside and the outside.
Step 8
The next step is to temper the structure. Ignite the fires. Start with small fires until it gets the large. This will get the loam ready for some cooking.
Tips and Warnings
Make sure you allow the cement to dry in step 3 before you move on. Take care when you light the fire so you do not get burned. Take all the precaution you normally do with an indoor oven.
You can build a brick oven on your own. Getting someone to help you will make the process quicker though, especially when assembling the bricks.
