If your favorite game is acting up, chances are the disc is scratched. Fortunately you can fix a scratched game disc in the same way you would repair a CD or DVD.
Required Tools and Materials
Drying rack
Paper towel
Regular toothpaste
Lint free cloth
Soft cloth
Place the disc on the cloth. The label side should be set be face down.
Step 2
Use the lint free cloth to brush the disc. Put some toothpaste on the disc. Apply the toothpaste close to the disc’s hole. Circle the game disc until you get to the outside edge.
Step 3
Put the index finger in the center of the hole.
Step 4
Use your finger to wipe the toothpaste in a circular manner.
Step 5
When the toothpaste has been applied all over the disc, grab it by the edge. Place the disc below a faucet. The part with the label must not face up.
Step 6
Open the faucet. Rinse the Xbox disc until all the toothpaste has been washed off. After washing, let the disc dry. Do not use a towel. Once the disc dries, put the disc in the console and play it.
Warning: don’t use the disc unless it is completely dry. Use only regular toothpaste; do not use gel.
Using Carnauba Car Wax
Required Tools and Materials
Carnauba car wax
Windex or other liquid glass cleaner
Eyeglass-polishing cloth
Paintbrush
Step 1
To fix a scratched game disc using this method, remove the dust first. If the dust persists, use a paintbrush to remove it.
Step 2
Get an eyeglass polishing cloth. Wipe the disc with it. Make sure that you apply it in a vertical manner. As with the earlier method, wipe from the center and move on outwards. Wipe from the middle to the outside; do not use a circular motion.
Step 3
Put a bit of glass cleaner on the cloth. Wipe the disc in a vertical manner. Let the game disc dry. Try to play it, if it doesn’t work, try step 4.
Step 4
Place a tiny amount of Carnauba car wax on the cloth. Wipe in the manner indicated earlier. Try to play it. This should work because the wax will cover up the small scratches.
You can use any of these methods to fix a scratched game disc. Whichever method you choose, ensure that the disc is dry. Using a wet disc in the Xbox on the disc will damage the disc. It may also ruin the console.
