It doesn’t take a lot to get an Xbox game disc scratched. Fortunately, there are ways to fix a scratched Xbox 360 game disc. Below are some of the most effective methods.
Required Tools and Materials
Car polish
Water
Toilet paper or polishing cloth (lint free)
Soft brush
Toothpaste
Soap
Peanut butter
Blow across the disc surface. Sometimes it isn’t the scratches, but the dust and other dirt that makes the disc unplayable. If there is still more dust, clean the disc with a soft brush.
Method 2
Wet a piece of lint free cloth. The kind you use with eyeglasses will be sufficient. If that isn’t available, use toilet paper instead. But make sure that the toilet paper is soft.
Clean the shiny part of the disc. You can let the disc air dry or wipe it with a polishing cloth. If the disc will not play, try cleaning it again up to five times.
Method 3
You can also use damp paper towels and soap to fix a scratched Xbox 360 game. Dip the towel in soapy water. Wipe the disc from the center moving outwards. Never wipe using a circular motion. This may actually scratch the disc. Rinse the disc under warm water. Wipe it dry before putting it in the console.
Method 4
Squeeze out a bit of toothpaste and apply it in the center of the disc. Wipe the disc from the center and move to the outer edges of the disc. Do not use gel; only use paste. Leave the toothpaste there for a couple of minutes. Wash it off and let the disc dry.
Method 5
If the toothpaste doesn’t work, try using car polish. Apply a bit of car polish on the cloth. Wipe the polish on the disc. You can also dip cotton buds on the car polish. Use the cotton buds to wipe the disc surface.
Method 6
Some Xbox users have gotten scratched discs to work by wiping some peanut butter on the disc. The peanut butter should be wiped in the same manner as the others (i.e., not in a circular motion).
Tips and Warnings
There are some shops that will clean and repair game discs for a small fee.
Perseverance is required when you are trying to fix a scratched Xbox 360 game. You will usually have to repeat the wiping or rubbing a few times for the disc to play. If the scratch isn’t deep, a single cleaning will suffice.
