The 3 red lights on the Xbox is a recurring problem in some Xbox models. If you are facing this difficulty, use the following tips to fix the Xbox 360 3 red lights.
Step 1
Turn the Xbox 360 on. Examine the supply light color. This is at the rear end of the power cord. Unplug and reconnect it if it is red.
Unplug the power supply from the Xbox. Unplug it from the wall outlet. Wait a couple of minutes and then reattach the power supply to the Xbox. Plug it in the wall outlet. Turn the Xbox on. If the 3 red lights are still there, go to step 3.
Step 3
Turn the 360 off. Disconnect the power supply cord. You have to try another electrical outlet. Hook up the power supply onto anther outlet. Do not connect the power supply to a surge protector.
Step 4
Hook up the power supply onto the 360. The correct color should be green; if not, proceed to step 5.

Turn the 360 off.
Step 6
Unplug the power supply from the console and the electrical outlet. Plug the power supply cord to the console. Connect the cord to another electric outlet. Set the power supply so it gets sufficient ventilation. When you are trying to fix the Xbox 360 3 red lights, ventilation is critical.
Step 7
Turn the 360 on. If it doesn’t work, proceed to step 8.
Warning: the following should only be tried if the warranty for the Xbox has expired.
If it hasn’t expired yet, get in touch with the manufacturer so you can get a replacement. You can also take the device to the store to have it repaired.
If the warranty has expired, you may try the following.
Step 8
Turn the Xbox off and disconnect all cords.
Step 9
Get a blanket and set it on the floor or table. Plug all the wires unto the console. Put the blanket around the 360. Turn the Xbox on.
Step 10
Get a couple more blankets and wrap them on the Xbox. Keep the console running until your hands can feel the heat on the towels or blankets. This will take anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes. It may take longer in some cases.
Remove the blankets and let the console cool for a couple of minutes. Plug it in. Again, you should fix the Xbox 360 3 red lights using this method only if the warranty has expired.
