How to Maintain Bruce Hardwood Floors

Bruce Hardwood floors are superior quality flooring that offers casual comfort and rustic charm. Many people love them because they are very affordable, durable and beautiful. Furthermore, the designs are guaranteed to satisfy the diverse tastes of customers. However, just like all the other floorings out there, they also need proper care and maintenance in order to last for a very long time. For a chance to enjoy the long life of these elegant floorings, it is good to know how to maintain Bruce Hardwood floors.

Materials Needed

Maintaining Bruce Hardwood floors is a moderately easy task. However, things are easier if these materials are available including a mop, a special product called Bruce Hardwood & Laminate Floor Cleaner and Bruce adhesive remover. Aside from these, you will also need other things like the Bruce touch-up kit, a vacuum and a broom. Furthermore, do not forget a floor buffer, clean rags as well as Bruce paste wax. Once you have these things, you can now start with this kind of task.

Steps

For Dura-Satin floors, it is good to put paste wax on the floor right after installation. The wax can actually seal the floor and prevent water from penetrating and damaging it upon contact. This product is available in two main shades, namely dark and light. Wipe it using a nice clean rag until the surface of the floor is completely covered.

At least once a week, make it a habit to vacuum or sweep the floor in order to prevent the buildup of dust and dirt. Never use a vacuum if it has a beater bar because it can actually damage the surface of the floor.

In case of spills, it is very important to clean the floor right away. This way, water or any kind of liquid cannot penetrate the floor and affect its quality. A mop or dry cloth is enough to remove spills. Every year, the floor must be waxed at least twice or thrice. If the floor looks dull, the appearance of the wood can be enhanced by applying wax once again. Not only that, this step can also help protect the floor from ultraviolet rays and moisture.

You can easily restore the luster and shine of the floor by buffing it intermittently while waxing. Today, a floor buffer can be rented, which comes with a highly efficient bristle brush attachment.

Additional Tips and Other Helpful Information

Never use specific products on the wrong kind of floor. For instance, the Bruce hardwood cleaner is inappropriate to use on Bruce Dura-Luster floors. Meanwhile, the Bruce paste wax is not suitable for Dura-Satin floors. The wood finish is more likely to be damaged when the wrong product is used.
