Refrigerators come in different types so various problems may crop up. In spite of the variants, one of the most common troubles involve the water dispenser. Here are a few tips to help you repair a refrigerator with water dispenser problems.

Put a glass in the dispenser. If you can hear the pump when you press the paddle it means the mechanical parts are functioning. The trouble involves a blockage of some sort.
Step 2
Next you have to assess the water filter. Go to the rear of the fridge. Remove the screws on the plastic cap. Make sure water doesn’t get spilled on it.
Take out the filter out. If the filter is dirty, clean it. This is very likely the cause of the problem. If the filter is damaged, it must be replaced. If that doesn’t solve the problem, proceed to step 3.
Step 3
Plug the hair dryer into an outlet. To repair a refrigerator this way, the outlet must be near enough the fridge you can use the hair dryer.
Step 4
Open the fridge door. Go to the section to the back of the dispenser. Remove any items in the way. It’s likely the liquid along the door lines are frozen. This is usually the case if you have been
away during the winter and the heat reduced.
Step 5
Turn the hair dryer on. Set the heat to medium. Move it back and forth around the rear of the door at the dispenser’s back. Repeat the movement at the front of the dispenser. Keep moving from the back to the front for 30 minutes or so. If this doesn’t work, go to the next step.
Step 6
Remove all the items (food, drink etc) in the fridge. Unplug it. Keep the doors open for 24 hours. Plug the fridge back in after 24 hours. The refrigerator should work now.

Read the fridge manual. It may contain other information about the fridge and the dispenser. Go through the troubleshooting section. Note the symptoms and problems of your fridge. Check if the guide offers any solutions. It is a good idea to read the guide before using it.
If you have no luck trying to repair a refrigerator, take it to the repairman. If the fridge is still under warranty, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost. However, most dispenser problems can be solved with the hair dryer.
