Hose and Hose Fitting Problems
Step 1
Use the adjustable wrench to loosen up the couplings.
Step 2
Remove the screws on the hose. Wipe the hose fittings clean with a rag.
Step 3
Check the hose. If it is damaged, get a new one. If it is not, clean it. Put it back in place with the adjustable wrench.
If the Tub Gasket is the Problem
Step 1
Lift the agitator top. Use the socket wrench to take out the seal and stud on the agitator. If the agitator has two components, remove them both.
Step 2
Open the splash guard tabs on the tub. Use the screwdriver to remove the steel clips. Remove the splash guard.
Step 3
To repair washing machines with tub gasket problems, take out the center column locknut. Use the spanner wrench or a hammer.
Step 4
Remove the basket from the washing machine. Remove the clamps and take out the water-level air hose and drain hose. Use the socket wrench for this task. Use a locking wrench to take out the tub bottom springs. Take out the spring brackets and the frame of the tub.
Step 5
Remove the metal drive block from the agitator shaft top. If it won’t come out, heat it with the propane torch. Hammer it.
Step 6
Move the tub side to side and take it out. Squeeze the gasket on the tub bottom. This has to be pushed into the bottom. Put in the new gasket.
Step 7
Put some soap at the agitator shaft. Assemble the washing machine. Turn it back on.
