Step 3

Use the screwdriver tip to clean up any broken glass pieces. Place the broken glass pieces in a container. Discard them properly.

Step 4

Step 5

To open the louver, move the window handle counterclockwise.

How to Fix the Jalousie Crank

Step 1

Take out the crank arm off the window. Do this by removing the screws.

Step 2

Use a cloth to clean the gearbox. Use a cleaner to get rid of grease. A wire brush is ideal for cleaning crannies.

Step 3

Next, the gears have to be turned so every notch is hooked to a groove. Loosen or tighten the screws so they become aligned. Ensure there is no dirt stuck in the gears.

Step 4

Put the crank back. Slide it above the gearbox. Put the screws back in place. The jalousie window is now ready.

Tips and Warnings

Make sure you determine what components are necessary. Aside from the crank, the arm is another component that may need to be replaced. This is the part that pulls and pushes the window. In some cases, it may be necessary to apply some silicone lubricant.

If you need to buy replacement parts, make sure you get quality components. Before you buy, specify the component you need. If you buy the wrong part, it will not work.

If the jalousie isn’t working, check the rivets. Be certain they are tight. Apply a lubricant so you can prolong the life of the replacement parts.

Studying how to repair windows is not that difficult, but you need to make sure you follow the directions as specified.
